2005 MICHELOB ULTRA
POINT SERIES
The following text was snaked from the InfiTerra Sports
Point Series Page :)

For the 2005 season Infiterra Sports is planning on making
some changes to the point series. The biggest change is
that it will no longer only be a coed series. The new point
series has a handicap system allowing any team, be it coed
or same sex, to earn points toward the series. Teams will
also be able to declare up to four members and race as teams
of two, three, or four in allowable events. The other big
change is the inclusion of the River Rat Adventure Racing
Sprint Races as part of the series. This will make for a
well rounded five race series with the Adventure Rage race
still serving as the championship event. The prizing are
still being determined. Look for new prizing information
to be posted in 2005, well before the first race of the
series.
Infiterra Sports, River Rats AR, Michelob Ultra, and many
other sponsors will be awarding the fastest Adventure Racers
in Michigan. Teams will accumulate points by competing in
various series races throughout the year. The top team at
the seasons end will be crowned the series champion. We
will also have prizes awarded all the way to 10th
place! Michelob Ultra - Lose the carbs. Not the taste.
The 2005 Prizes
Teams will compete for a total prize purse that will exceed
$3,000!
The prize package promises to grow throughout the 2005 season.
As the prize package becomes complete it will be posted on
the site.

How to Earn
Points
A handicap scale will be used to balance the gender difference
among teams. Note the handicap scale has nothing to do with
team size. Through statistical analysis of the finishes recorded
during the 2004 season at Infiterra Sports and River Rats
Adventure Races a handicap point scale has been derived. The
analysis found that Male teams placed on average, one position
higher than Coed teams. Therefore, Male teams will be awarded
the points for one place value lower than their finish. Female
teams will be awarded double points for their place values.
The handicap will be in place at all races except the Rage.
The Rage will use a straight scale to determine points. Note
the handicap is not affected by number of teammates. If you
choose to race as a four instead of two in a race, then that
is your own decision. The handicap will not apply to 10th
place or lower finishes. Therefore points will be awarded
to finishing teams according the table to the right.:
2005 Rules
- Points will be awarded to teams
based on their overall finish in qualified 2005 races
based on the point system outlined above. That is overall
finish against all racers except solos.
- The qualifying 2005 Adventure
Races are as follows: Spring Fury, River Rats Spring Warm-Up,
Summer Groove, River Rats Fall Race and the Adventure
Rage.
- You must register your team as
stated above in the "How To Register" section.
- You must declare a team name and
race under that name to accumulate points.
- Four (4) people are eligible to
accumulate points for your team. Gender is not specified.
- You must declare at least two
of the team members at the time of registration. The other
members may be added at a later date or never added at
all.
- You must race as a 2, 3, or 4
person team to accumulate points, i.e. solos will not
earn points.
- At least 2 declared members must
be on a team in order to earn points in the series, two
people on a declared point series team may race with 1-2
random racers on a 3-4 person team, but those random racers
will not earn points for a different team.
- Three and four person teams will
not receive any special credit or penalty and will be
ranked with all other teams according to overall finish.
- The team must finish the complete,
original course as defined by the Race Directors as an
official finisher to earn points. (Modified course finishes
will only be included if all racers entered in the race
are using a modified course).
- The registered team with the highest
total points at the end of the season will be the winner.
- Any ties in the final standings
will be determined by the teams' finish in the Salomon
/ Moosejaw Adventure Rage adventure race.
- Infiterra Sports officials will
resolve all disputes. We reserve the right to amend the
rules, to provide clarification, or ensure equity among
participants. All decisions will be final.
- Any dispute must be brought forward
to Infiterra Sports officials within 48 hours of the infraction.
The complaint must be clearly stated.
Final 2004
Standings:
Congratulations to the 2004 Michelob Ultra
Point Series Champions - Team Absolute Endo comprised of
Andy and Jessica Yaksic.
Team Absolute Endo certainly earned and deserves the title
of series champions as they swept the series winning all
four events and accumulating a maximum score of 90 points.
For their efforts and fast racing they received a prize
package worth well over $1,000. Rounding out the top three
teams and also receiving prizes where 2nd place Team No
Time For Hugging Trees / Blue Bayou and 3rd place team Attention
Deficit / Like Viagra - Up All Night. The race between 2nd
and 3rd place was much closer, with the final outcome not
being decided until the end of the Adventure Rage Race.
Team No Time For Hugging Trees / Blue Bayou was made up
of a combination of Brian Matthews, Joy Strawser, and Diane
Hutchinson.
Team Attention Deficit / Like Viagra - Up All Night was
comprised of Mark Spencer and Lori Smith.
Please note that only the top ten teams are listed. Many
other coed teams accumulated less than twelve points toward
the series. If you want to know how many points your team
accumulated, please contact Luke.
